I have a pile of school clothes sitting right behind me. They are taunting me, beckoning me to attend to them; to make them crisp and then to hang them away.
This week is filled with appointments, last minute playing with friends and cousins and me wondering how I will expand my lunchbox repertoire. I have a good few staples, but I'm just not feeling it ... what was glossy in 2011 may not be what fits for 2012, regardless, I'd better make up my mind soon because Monday morning is fast approaching!
Like any self respecting dabbler in paper and pixels, it didn't take me too long to find a way to occupy my time.
After trying a variety of free photographic actions over the years I was sceptical, but you know, RadLab isn't too bad. Now, of course they are not free, but you can trial them for thirty days and that's exactly what I doing this month. Unfortunately I was expecting to have hours of fun, procrastinating and avoiding the ironing, but, RadLab takes about a minute to install and ten seconds to apply each action ... hardly seems fair!
What do you think, are you a fan of actions?

I have been avoiding RadLab because I don't want to get hooked and then have to pay! But I LOVE what you did with that truck. Such a dramatic feel to the photo.
fabulous image - so moody. I love using actions but over the last year have been using textures more than actions - been feeling a tug back to actions resently
Not so much for me; maybe a spot of cropping and blanking out names, but that's it.
The image does look amazing, though!
So sorry to hear the actions are so fast! It does seem like it should have taken more of your time away from the ironing! :>)
That is one awesome photo Amy. I may be tempted by Redlab.
I'm like Ruth on this one. I do use actions but just for sharpening and lightening - I'm not in to all the different effects. I can appreciate what other people do though and your photo is very cool!
xx
I like actions in their place, sometimes they can take an ordinary photo into extraordinary. Not so much a fan of over doneness though.
nothing new on the lunch menu here, they are predictable in their eating habits if nothing else!
Actions are on my list to play with and figure out more about. Love the cleanness of first photo and the texture of the second. I actually hate that last week before school starts. . . there's just something about it that never feels right.
Rinda
Oh, I agree with you Sharon, I am not a big fan of actions in general, but these were so easy to install and offer a great variety of styles and effects ... one could be tempted!
I forgot to say, Rinda, it is like a sense of foreboding the last week of school ... like I'm gearing up for a year long match or game of something!
Oooh...I love that photo of the truck. Super cool.
Having become a recent fan of Instagram and enjoying the easy photo editing there, I think that RadLab might be my ticket. I still haven't figured out how to do actions in PhotoShop...
Deb, it is simple, you load the action by following their instructions and then you press play ... it's ridiculously easy ... but some need tweaking as you go and I find that harder, that's why these are so good!
I used to love actions and I still do for arty photos. But I find they obscure the details in the picture sometimes and on my scrapbook pages, I usually want as true an image as possible. Peachy x
That's a wonderful photo ... so atmospheric. I have a folder of actions but rarely use them, though you are inspiring me. Perhaps when I retire!
Ack, I have just lost my big long comment.
I love RadLab - you maybe remember me posting about my excitement when Dave bought me it as an early Christmas gift. I love playing about with different effects and was working on a photo for Sunday just this morning. I think giving a photo a particular look can really help support the theme of a page
I haven't used radlab, but that photo looks fabulous
I use the Pioneer Woman's actions all the time. Tracy bought me a more sophisticated set a year ago which require some adjusting as you go along. I haven't gotten comfortable enough with them to use them quickly, so I tend to avoid them. I love the effect this had on your photo; it's awesome!
