Holiday Photos:Part Three ...

I have more than enough photos for the January prompts at FatMumSlim, in fact, many of them could serve more than one theme. There are more today, they show some of the activities we enjoy while away, as you will see, the majority are water based.

The summer before I became pregnant with The Eight Year Old, The Engineer and I bought a boat. At the time we thought it was frivolous and very expensive, be under no illusion, it was a modest purchase, but one we do not regret. This year is the first year we have all been able to go out together, we are fortunate my parents have the space to store our boat and that they live beside a river which leads to extensive and wonderful inland lakes.
When was the last time you made a seemingly large purchase which you don't regret?

Another stunning set of photos, Amy. You should have some framed for your walls.

ADORE the photo of your kids with grandma - especially that they aren't looking at the camera! how cool!

Oh - and I don't regret the three rather "splurge" type purchases we've made from Pottery Barn - the window bench which stores scrapbook albums, the armoire which hides a lot of scrapbook mess, and the media center on which our flat screen t.v. sits in the family room. Three separate purchases. I still love each piece as much as I did the day we bought it.

I love them all, but the "old truck" is by far my favorite - so evocative!I also really like light, love, the one of you and your husband (we don't see enough of him) and the bag.
Our biggest, best splure ever was when we bought the empty lot (property) right behind our house. It has turned out to be a fabulous investment, but, more importantly, it gives us a feeling of space.
Rinda (who really wants to splurge on a camera this year)

Oh, Amy, your photos are stunning! It's so fun to see the area where you live and/or play.

Beautiful photos of lovely people and lovely places ... I especially like the one of their children with their grandmother (?). Some wonderful light and shade in these photos too. The seemingly large purchase we don't regret? I think that would have to be our 'summer house': really just a large shed with a little veranda originally, which we've worked on over the years. Would not want to be without it!

Amy, is that your Mum pictured with the kids? That's my favourite shot. And what a beautiful, beautiful lady.

Wonderful photos again,Amy...I too love the one of your mum and the kids...you look so like her [minus any wrinkles,of course!].
When our kids were little we splurged on a pine dresser...it was far more than we could really afford....but it now sits in our conservatory filled with lovely things.....I still love it....and have never regreted buying it.

I'm loving these holiday shots your sharing - it's always fun to see other people's lives and the places they go. It was great to see a photo of you and your DH and I also love the one of your Mum and the children (I love photos with people) but they're all great shots.
As for a purchase, it's obviously time I/we made one because nothing significant springs to mind ;o)

It's so lovely to see your photos Amy, you really are a talented photographer. Love the pic of your mum with the kids and it was good to meet your husband in this post too!
Like Rhona, I think my 'splurge' is well overdue!

Yes, everyone, the gorgeous lady is my Mum! Lots of people comment that we look alike, but I am hopeless with those sorts of things and can never see it.
I have several shots from that evening - better make a layout soon I would say.

These are beautiful photos. I really like the LOVE and the OLD truck ones best.

We purchased some nice (kind of expensive) luggage six years ago, and it has been around the world with us. I'm so glad we finally quit using those cheaper bags with the handles that broke and the ones with no wheels!

Beautiful photos. You are so lucky to live somewhere so stunning. I don't remotely regret buying our French house, although it was a scary move at the time

Hi, I haven't been here recently - lovely to catch up and see some beautiful photos from your holiday. Looks as if you had a wonderful time - I would have liked to be out on the water in the boat too. Some lovely scenery near your parents' home.
I too love the photo of your mother with her grandchildren - you should frame it up for her and give it to her as a special gift - she would be delighted, I'm certain!
The light in your part of the world is so different in quality to the light here. Even on our sunniest days, we don't quite get that particular brightness. I've experienced it in the Mediterranean, but it's rare here - our light generally has a rather blue tinge, especially in winter time. A pain when taking photos for my shop, I can tell you!
Gorgeous photos - glad you've been having a lovely summer (it's still trying to be winter here... I fully expect it to snow next Thursday, just because I am supposed to be on a plane on Friday morning!)
Have a great weekend - I guess it's now Friday evening with you.

I didn't know you had a boat - I love it when I learn something new like that :) It sounds like a wonderful way to relax.

Your photos, as always, are beautiful and are a welcome glimpse of a different season on a very grey day here

I love the photo of you and hubby on THE boat! I tend to get sea sick though :) These photos are beautiful shots of the lovely landscape that is where you call home and for that I am happy to see a glimpse of what you see :)

I learnt to sail on those lakes! definately a worthy splurge if that's your playground! Your photos are beautiful!

That's a very good question! The only things I can think of are necessities not splurges....maybe I need to go shopping ;)

Hi Amy, catching up with you this morning, Your pictures are simply beautiful, what a wonderful place to live and to see the sunshine on a rainy morning here in the Uk is fabulous. I love the one word prompt. I am doing this on project 365+1 on my iPhone, it will be interesting to see how it works.

Amy, great photos, I of course love the close up of the kids with your mom but the one with the old truck took my breathe away...gorgeous! We have chosen to "splurge" on travel with the boys. We only stayed at nicer places a few nights and camped good portions of the time but have done 3 weeks thru New England and a abit of Canada, a month cross country, 2 weeks in Alaska, weeks in Saint John (USVI) and others closer to our part of the country (US South). I wouldn't trade those for anything. In fact this weekend I am searching for a house for us to stay in for their college spring breaks :)

At the risk of just pepeating what has already been said, I love the shot of your beautiful Mum and her grandchildren. Like Rinda, the truck is my favourite though.

Amy these photos are awesome! I know you are in Australia and I think you are towards the south but I'm not sure where. I hope the boat / your parents are not too far away so that you can get the most out of it.
